This building had been constructed approx 20 years prior by our client and it contains four storeys , a retail shop on the ground / first floors, offices on the second floor and a sound studio located on the top floor. This was a complex project that required change of use applications for both Planning / Building Control. The existing retail shop remained as existing however it shared the main access / escape route used by the top two floors which posed a major fire escape issue. We created 2No. two bedroom and 2No. 1 bedroom apartments all to a high spec finish and using the latest in fire design equipment in the form of an auto mist system in every kitchen to extinguish fires at source, an upgraded early fire detection system and upgraded the existing stairwell to a 1 Hour fire protected stairwell.
